The Comfortable Thank You
Thanks for Listening
Thanks for talking
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for caring
Thanks for being my friend
I hope THAT will never, ever end
I look in my treasure box and YES there you sit
right on top
a tiny jewel

Weekly Meeting looks for Safe Refuge
I texted “help me”!
No response is needed she smirked
She painted her lip with a cock of hip
This is why people lose elections damn you!
However,
The cancellations swirl and fall
Like snowflakes
Delicate crystallized wonders of uniqueness
I am sure
If I could but look closer and deeper
Covering us and forming snow
A bright white blanket muffling all sound
Sterile and cold
All those fallen snowflake soldiers
too many now to cry for
Once while hunting high in the mountains
Peering through limbs while I caught my breath
I looked for you and you looked for me
It was snowing so hard I could hear them fail
touching tamarack kissing
hissing
Then,
A small white rabbit at my feet
Perfectly still and yet hysterical with fear
Its black eyes bright
Neither one of us wanted to move

Requiem for the not quite dead
What if we all
wore black, all the time?
you know, Johnny Cash close enuf’
dressed in
leather chaps to strut our stuff
with fringe naturally
safely buy
groceries at Safeway
What if all the
cars in the world were as loud as Harleys
Like fast and
furious, roar-n-rip, fart can equipped?
V8 Cadillacs making
ears bleed decibel drips
Extra sound
becoming the new diamond earrings
Too much baby
makes her rich
We could all
wear corporate logo-ese
People wearing
black t shirts with big letters
“MAYTAG WASHERS
RULE”
Or “I-PAD to
live, live to I-PAD”
understanding our paychecks pain from afar
me and ten friends “ride” to Duvall
Only on sunny
weekends of course
In our 1996
white Chevy Luminas
All cherried out
Sonny Jim, listen
We choreograph a
lineup
a big tinny line of car coke
Proudly milling
around outside
Our chests like round
red roosters
Dapper dressed
in lithe Lumina regalia
We are LUMINA
riders, god damn your eyes
We have accomplished
something today
